چکیده

Fungi constitute a highly versatile group of eukaryotic carbonheterotrophic organisms that have successfully occupied most natural habitats. The vast majority of fungi are strict saprophytes; <10% of the *lOO,OOO known fungal sp-ecies are able to colonize plants, and an even smaller fraction of these are to a plant pathogen? Second, what mechanisms control the degree of virulence on the host once pathogenicity has been established?

Brefeldin A Effects in Plants (Are Different Golgi Responses Caused by Different Sites of Action?).

During the past decade, BFA, a lipophilic funga1 toxin, has become a major tool of cell biologists interested in studying vesicle-mediated trafficking in animal and plant cells. Its main attractions include its ability to block secretion and to induce profound morphological changes in the organelles of the secretory and endocytic pathways in a totally reversible manner. In the plant literature,...

Fungal Infection Alters Phosphate Level and Phosphatase Profiles in Arabidopsis

Phosphorus (P), in the form of phosphate ion (Pi), is a vital element contributing in biomolecule structures, metabolic reactions, signaling pathways and energy transfer within the living cells. The objective of the present study was to assess the influence of fungal infection on Pi metabolism in compare to the effects of phosphate stress in Arabidopsis. Quantification of total P contents showe...

Nucleotide sequence of a cationic peroxidase gene from the tropical forage legume Stylosanthes humilis.

Peroxidases (EC 1.1 1.1.7; donor: hydrogen-peroxide oxidoreductase) have been implicated in numerous physiological processes of potential importance in plant-pathogen interactions, including lignification (Walter, 1992), crosslinking of cell-wall components (Bradley et al., 1992), wound healing (Sherf et al., 1993), auxin oxidation (Grambow and Langenbeck-Schwich, 1979), and systemic acquired r...

Nucleotide sequence of a new cDNA for peroxidase from Arabidopsis thaliana.

Peroxidases (EC.1.11.1.7) play an integral role in secondary cell wall biosynthesis by catalyzing the polymerization of cinnamyl alcohol into lignin and by forming rigid cross-links between cellulose, pectin, Hyp-rich glycoproteins, and lignin (Fry, 1986). They are very suitable as a defense marker because these enzymes oxidize severa1 organic compounds (hydrogen donors) in the presence of H202...
